CHAPTER 7
At 7:15PM the first guests started to arrive. The music was pumped up and pizza had just arrived, hot and fresh. Everything was going ahead on schedule. Kristin knew how much this party meant to Ted so she put a lot of time and effort into decorating and even got Carrie and Alex to help her transform each of the four bedrooms into its own specific theme.
They decided to go with ancient Egyptian, sixties hippy, classical Roman and futuristic sci-fi. Although it wasn’t really intended to be a costume party, a few of the guests dressed up to match the themes as well.
When the final guest count came in, of both the expected and unexpected party goers, it was just over a hundred people, not a bad turnout considering it was finals week for most students. The rooms were packed and extra pizza’s had to be ordered and thankfully, and typically, a couple of jocks pooled some cash and brought an extra keg with them or the alcohol would have run short also.
But the party went off without a hitch and around 2:30AM the crowd started to clear out with only about twenty or so people lingering around that would probably end up passing out and staying the night. Upstairs in the master bedroom, Hippy Headquarters as it was dubbed; Alex and Carrie were sharing some fruit concoctions that their friend Sean was whipping up.
“I need to take a break.” Carrie said, clearly exhausted and even more obviously, wasted.
She was a lightweight at five foot three and only about one hundred and five pounds so it didn’t take much for her to start getting a good buzz going. Her tolerance took a nose dive after taking up cheerleading since she didn’t usually drink or get high anymore, it affected her co-ordination, and she needed to stay as fit as possible.
It pissed her off that people didn’t realize how much work and commitment goes into professional cheerleading, but tonight that was the last thing on her mind. She handed Alex her drink and headed to the washroom.
“Yeah no problem babe, I’ll take care of this one for you” Alex laughed and guzzled her drink down before turning his attention to Brandy, who had been waiting patiently for Carrie to leave his side. She was one of Carrie’s long legged air headed cheerleading teammates, or more precisely her archrival.
Brandy looked like the ideal spokeswomen for the “free love” concept with her plaid mini-skirt covered in psychedelic flowers and a low-cut, almost completely transparent pink blouse with two strategically placed peace symbols as the only things blocking the view of her “free” breasts.
She had a reputation for preferring other girls boyfriends over her own but always promised to stick to the “cheerleader’s” code by staying away from teammates guys. Of course she only promised not to go after them, all bets were off if they came after her and that was exactly what she had planned for tonight. She had passed Sean a little something “special” to put in Carrie’s drink to help remove her as an obstacle.
